Meraki MR access Points

Hello Dears, I want to ask about the Meraki MR connecting methods .. should I connect it to Meraki Switch or to the MX directly. ?? 

also, does both work or not? what the best practice as well

Hi @shadoomere , would depend on your requirements as either way are acceptable.  If it’s a small site and doesn’t require a switch then connect your APs to the PoE ports of the MX. If you have more APs than PoE ports then you’ll require PoE adapters to power the APs.

 

If it’s a larger deployment then you’re more than likely better off deploying a switch as well.

Hi,

 

You can connect to either a switch or the MX. One thing to be aware of is depending on the model of MR you are connecting you may need to also use a PoE injector for power.

If I had the choice - I would connect the MR to the MS.  The MS offers more monitoring and fault diagnosis tools.  Depending on your MS, the solution also supports additional things like SecurePort.
