Wiping school iPads for next year without complete Erase/Factory reset

Hi.

I manage iPads for a school District. Every year to prepare the devices for the upcoming year we have to do a full erase on the devices. This then involves manually going to each device to redo the Apple setup. We'd like to do a selective wipe, however this doesn't cover things like Safari data and Photos. If selective wipe included the Apple apps that would be great, but it doesn't.

Has anyone found a way to do this remotely using Meraki, or Meraki and a combination of something else?

Thanks.

Kind of a big deal

Bulk actions for schools – erase device, clear passcodes

We had a similar post from yesterday.

Use the API to parse through devices that are tagged for wipe and then call the wipe.

Ok, thanks. That seems like it will allow us to bulk 'selective wipe'. This is great. Does this also address the Safari & Photos problem?

I believe it is a full wipe

Thanks. This is helpful for bulk wiping, but bulk wiping still requires manually going to each device to set it back up. We're looking for a solution to avoid that.

Has anyone ever figured this out?  Seems like the baseline of what you want to do...remove user data but leave apps, or even remove all apps then reinstall them and thus wipe out user data.

Just trying to not have to do the whole thing from scratch on each ipad and use up all that time going to each one manually.  Kind of ridiculous this is not easier.
