Hallo,
we set up our iPads as Shared iPads with only temporary sessions . They are updated and 6th and 8th generation with 128gb storage. After a couple of days there is a message that login is not possible because the storage is full.
There are only guests possible so I suspect the iPad is not deleting the old temporary sessions. Do you have and ideas how to fix this?
Best regards
Florian
I'd use a quota size and temporary session timeout to ensure that data is cleansed. However, due to the way that DEP profiles are installed, you'd need to do a device wipe
Hello Paul,
thank you for your answer.
I used temporary session timout. It logs out the temporary user but the data still exist somewhere in the background. So after a few logouts the storage is atill full.
I tried to set resident users to 1 but there is no difference.
I also tried to set quota to 128 gb so there is only one temporary user but guest user shows only 25gb. Is there a limit for this setting?
Regards
Florian
There isn't a limit set by Apple
Sounds like a bug to me, although let's not rule out application issues also
Thank you for answer
Has there been any solution to this? I have 8 iPad's and after 2-3 users log into the iPad's we get the error:
Not enough storage available
There is not enough storage available to add another user to this iPad. Wait until all users are synchronized or contact your admin to free up storage.
Yes, wiping each device clean is an option, but it seems wrong i'd have to do this every week or so.
I've spent the morning testing with this
Created a ADE profile with a 5GB
NO Authentication
Wiped device
Ensured I had a bunch of users in school.apple.com
Used my existing Education profile, which includes a device group to aid logging in:
Synced Users from Systems Manager > Overview∫
Synced Users from the top of the Education profile above
Wiped device and enrolled
Got to logging in, which I did with three users
No issues.
I'd look at your quote size. This is in MB, not GB, so my 5000 above is just shy of 5GB
I hope that helps
