Removing old IOS from iPads
Hello
Some of our older (very old) iPads that are still managed and being used in early childhood are very low on storage. This is mostly caused by the retention of old IOS on the iPad.
My question is, can you delete old IOS off the iPad or is there a way to wipe the iPad to remove all the old IOS but not lose the enrollment of the device?
Thanks in advance.

If the iPad is enrolled in the Apple Business Manager (DEP) program then when it is wiped it should re-enrol upon restart.

Hello. Thanks for the reply. The iPad is not enrolled with Apple Business Manager, unfortunately.

I agree, you definitely need to enroll it in Apple Business or Apple School Manager.
It will store and sync some attributes, such as the activation state, serial numbers, some metadata (device gen/iOS etc.) and it will be re-enrolled upon reset.
We utilize ABM in addition to our MDM, which is Intune. But that's actually just the tool. The DEP is ABM/ASM

@Bobraham Do not setup Apple business manager if it's an early childhood centre you should be able to get Apple School Manager for free.
