How to resolve: Error: The app with iTunes Store ID XXXXXXXXX is already installed.

I have some Apple TVs where some folks got excited and signed in with an AppleID to download a free app.

I have said free app as a VPP purchase.

I would like to replace AppleID purchased App with the VPP version but I get this error in Activity Log:

Error: The app with iTunes Store ID 376183339 is already installed.

In the SM>Apps the application is question does not have the option: Attempt to manage unmanaged.

So any solutions other than deleting said app from the Apple TV directly?

What app are you trying to install.

This usually happens when the MDM is trying to install an app that already comes bundled on the Apple TV, the best way around this is usually to factory reset the Apple TV removing the bundled app.

This issue is common on iPads as they come bunled with iMovie, Garageband etc.

Yeah reseting is an option but more brutal than just erasing the errant app, which btw is just any free App Store app.

I was hoping there was another way.
