Add Language to Code Sample

Kind of a big deal

Add Language to Code Sample

I have a thing, where I like to put "things" in the right "boxes"..

When sharing code examples, sometimes it's also neccessary to add terminal output. Could it be possible to add e.g. BASH to the list of languages in the Code Sample?

Hi! I received a response from our platform vendor (Khoros) about this, and, unfortunately, changes to the editor (TinyMCE) requires a professional services engagement ($$) - even for just adding Plain Text as an option. We unfortunately don't have budget for this at the moment, but will keep in mind for the future!

Hi! Just to confirm - you mean here on the community, when you add a code sample via the editor?

Yes - correct. 🙂

Adding Bash as a Language on the Code Example in the Community. 🙂

Cool, that's what I thought you meant, just wanted to confirm! I just did a bit of research about what the community platform can support, and it looks like this is possible but (unfortunately) seems to require a professional services engagement from the community platform vendor. I'll double check that that is still the case.

Is there an option for "plain text"?  It's terminal output, so doesn't require any specific formatting.

Plain Text would definitely also be a possibility, although it would still be nice for the formatting and coloring of terminal output. 🙂

I'll check! The editor options aren't configurable by community admins (like me), but I can find out from the Khoros support team what's possible. Seems like adding plaintext as an option shouldn't require anything too special!

Sad, that Khoros requires such engagement, simply to add "plain text" as an option to TinyMCE.

But thanks anyway, @CarolineS for taking the time to look into it anyway! Very much appreciated!
