License Expiration

Hello.

In September our customer Drago replaced three MX80, whose licenses were due to expire in October, with three new MX84.

In the Inventory MX80 were removed but they are still visible in the License Info page, together with other appliances.

Why?

Can this presence influence the overall licenses expiration date, very close despite the purchasing of six years license for new MX84?

Thanks a lot.

With kind regards.

Gabriele

@PhilipDAth 's suggestion would indeed have been the easiest way of ensuring all the value of the MX80 licences was retained.

The renewal would have also needed to include licensing for the two switches and at least two APs, plus any Systems Manager agents still needed   (basically anything you still wanted to carry on working, after the renewal).

Hi,

This is because you still have licences that have not expired. I think you might be able to convert them to MX84 and increase the length of the overall licensing. Support needs to do this (I think).

Also, I would delete the screenshots and put new ones up with the serial numbers, MAC address and order numbers blanked out.

As the co-termination date is based upon the sum total of devices within the Organization, the extra value input by adding the new MX84 licences will be shared across all devices in the Dashboard.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for Support to convert MX80 licences to MX84 ones, as @AnythingHosted suggested.  Remaining license value, for devices being upgraded, can usually be taken into account in the commercial arrangements for purchasing the new hw and license, but that is usually done, in advance, via the Meraki account team.

It's too late now ... but what you should have done is add the kit to the inventory, then separately add the licence as a renewal - which would have wiped the old MX80 licence.
