Network Topology - Incorrect

Good day Meraki-verse,

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced an issue with how the topology view gets populated in the dashboard. I have a network with Cisco Catalyst Monitored switches, and it seems that the topology in the dashboard is not correct. How is this map populated with CDP and LLDP?

The topology should look like this:

However this is the current topology view in the dashboard!

It does not look close to my diagram. So has anyone else had a similar issue?

Regards,

Marcel Smal

I've seen the topology go a bit weird when you have non-Meraki gear in the mix. Also if you have equipment from one network connected to equipment in another that can draw oddly as well.

I try not to rely on the topology maps within the dashboard.  Firstly, they’re not cosmetically appeasing and secondly they throw they’re own little quirks.

Hi @Marcel_Smal,

Try disabling CDP on the Catalysts and topology will slowly correct itself with the LLDP information.

Drawing from my experience, if there is no funky STP stuff/design happening. It'll be fine. I've seen this with plenty of non-meraki, 3rd party vendor devices looking beautifully.
