Hi all,  I've read the MX_warm_spare_-_high_avialability_pair document I understand to configure my static ip on my wan via the local status page. In all the examples it just shows the VIP address, where do I configure the distinct uplink IP and choose MX uplink IP?  Thanks, Evan ... View more

one-armed Vpn Concentrator in HA - MX Uplink IP or Virtual Uplink IP

Hi all,  I have my opinion, but looking for any more reasons to add to my choice of which option to use when building my MX HA Devices.    What is the most common choice? MX Uplink IPs or Virtual Uplink IPs? I think you get more redundancy of VRRP heartbeats if you use Virtual The seamless failover really only effects the cloud portal, anything else?   Thanks in advance ... View more

Packet stats sent vs received

Hi all,  I have a port that reports its 'no connected clinets on this port for selected time range'. I know the reason why. When I do a packet capture i only see broadcast/mcast traffic.  The stats for packets is zero for received and populated for sent. Should this not be the other way around?   Packets  for the last 1 day   Total Sent Received Rate Total 232,475 232,475 0 2 pkts/s (2 pkts/s ↑, 0 pkt/s ↓) Broadcast 110,441 110,441 0 1 pkts/s (1 pkts/s ↑, 0 pkt/s ↓) Multicast 122,034 122,034 0 1 pkts/s (1 pkts/s ↑, 0 pkt/s ↓) CRC align errors 0 0 0 - Fragments 0 0 0 - Collisions 0 0 0 - Topology changes 0 0 0 - ... Hi,  I'm planning to retain a Catayst Core running rpvst and keeping it as root.  As long as I allow vlan 1 over the trunks to the MS switches will I have compatibility whilst retaining my current Catayst rpvst config? I got this from Meraki support: "If using PVST, this must only be running in VLAN 1 and the MSs should not be the root"  From reference support documentation this seems clearer, in that I don't have to strip out other vlans from the rpvst configuration on catayst core: This is a Cisco proprietary protocol on Catalyst/Nexus switches that is compatible with spanning tree (802.1D) and RSTP (802.1w). It is important to note however that as Rapid-PVST is a multi-VLAN spanning tree protocol, MS series switches can participate in spanning tree only when a spanning tree instance is running on VLAN 1 of all switches. In addition, VLAN 1 must be allowed on all trunk ports running Rapid-PVST, so that BPDUs are seen by the Meraki switches in the topology.  In this configuration, the MS series switches should never be the STP Root Bridge. ... Thanks for the swift reply.  I've unsplit on my test switch, so thats good to know. I seem to have somehow put two ports on my test switch into Stack mode. How does one unstack these two? I seem to only have edit option>name.  When reviewing switch stack page, it is empty. But on Switch Ports I have two listed as dedicated stack. ... View more

On my Meraki do I simply configure my desired two uplink ports with native vlan and allowed vlans.  Then select them both and choose Aggregation.  Then control the negotiation etc from my upstream Cisco Catalyst with matching configuration? Lastly, how to I take two ports out of aggregation on Meraki? Select both ports and ? Thanks ... View more

Hi All, its due to using a Template. If I go into the template I can see the option. BUT, i don't want to apply this change to all my networks.  So i'm asking support how I can target each switch across all my networks to receive the change in priority only.  I have a suspicion i'll have to unassign from the template.  ...
