Re: Force SM install on Personal devices?

Because our Staff tend to use their personal devices to access emails and documents on Google Drive we want to enforce device password/pin protection and enforce device encryption. If Staff don't want to install SM then we would like to prevent them from accessing work related emails and documents on their personal devices. I have found that you can do a forced install using Googles own MDM so as soon as users try to access work emails they are asked to download the Google Device Policy App which then enforces the policies we set. The same doesnt seem to be true of Meraki MDM. ... View more

Thanks for the reply. The URL you linked to does not work for me.  I didnt want to use Device Owner deployment as I understood that to be aimed at devices owned by the School rather than personal devices owned by Staff members.   ... View more

Force SM install on Personal devices?

We are a School. If our users utilise their own devices to access School emails is there any way that we can force them to enroll onto Meraki SM? We use G Suite for email and documents and normally users just add in the details of the School G Suite domain and they can sync their emails. I would like to stop them doing this unless they have installed Meraki Systems Manager first. ... View more

That is a shame. As we are late into the Management of devices all of our users have corporate emails on their devices. We can remove future access but not what they already have? ... View more

Not used work profiles before.  I can see the existing personal install of Gmail and I can see another install of Gmail with the work profile icon above it. The personal install of Gmail was linked to the corporate email system so already has emails in it. It is no longer syncing but its the existing emails in there that I want gone. We have many users that installed Gmail on their own devices which we now want to install work profiles on. The personal install of gmail still seems to have access to all emails previously sent before the work profile was installed. ... View more

Thanks for the quick response. The devices I want to push SM to belong to Staff (BYOD) so won't go down too well if I ask them to factory reset! ... View more

When I deploy SM to an Android device it asks for access to contacts. If I deny then SM does not go any further. if I allow then it gives me a list of Accounts on the device to choose from to bind SM to.   Why does SM need access to contacts? ... View more

Removing existing access from Device

Just starting with Meraki MDM Systems Manager, apologies if I get any of the terminology wrong.  I have an Android device that already has Gmail installed and is already linked to our corporate email. The gmail app has emails already on it. When I deploy SM to the device the sync stops on the existing install of Gmail but existing emails in the app do not get removed. I can then deploy the managed version of Gmail and it syncs correctly. How would I ensure that the unmanaged version of Gmail on the device no longer contains emails?   Hope that makes sense! ...
