Yeah, we did something similar: we set up an OpenSense VM router and added the necessary route map to the L3 switch. While it works, it's not ideal; this issue could be avoided with the addition of a basic feature to the Meraki device. It makes me wonder why I wouldn't switch to something else if I have to run a second firewall to achieve this particular guest segmentation.
