Hello! I recently created a new VLAN for devices to connect to. I have a Wi-Fi network using this VLAN as well. A wired client is able to connect to this network and obtains an IP address. A wireless client is also able to connect to the network and obtains an IP address as well. However, both clients are unable to connect to the Internet. I think it might be a problem with the DNS. Using my computer, I pinged the Google public DNS server while connected to the wireless network and there was no response. I then switched the DHCP server to use proxy to upstream DNS, and I pinged it to see if it would work. It seemed to get a response, but there was still no Internet connection. Any idea why devices would be able to connect to a network and obtain IP addresses, but not connect to the Internet? Is it a problem with the DNS, or could it be something else? Thanks for the help!

Hello! We have a Wi-Fi network at my organization which assigns IP addresses using Meraki DHCP. I learned that this is not the best configuration to use if you want Wi-Fi clients to have access to a shared printer connected via LAN. However, I am wondering, is there any possible way we could give these Wi-Fi clients access to the printer? For example, could the Firewall rules be adjusted to allow all those Meraki DHCP clients to have access to the correct VLAN the printer is connected to? I am wondering about this because it would allow us to remove one of our SSID's. We currently have several, I learned it is not recommended to use more than 2 or 3. We currently have to have an additional SSID solely for printer access. Thanks in advance for the help!

I looked into the DHCP problem more and it looks like the uplink on one of the switches wasn't configured to allow the Voice VLAN through. It seems to be working now. Thank you everyone for your help!

To answer a few of the replies here, I tested to see if the DHCP server is actually working, and it isn't. I have configured it the same way as I have for my other VLANs (unless I'm missing a difference somewhere). Any ideas? Appreciate the help!

I hadn't tested it, no... but I have now and it isn't working. Not sure why the DHCP server isn't assigning an IP address because I have configured it the same way as our other VLANs (unless I'm missing something).

Hello! I am relatively new to Meraki, still getting used to how it all works. We are likely going to be implementing VoIP phones at my organization, and I created a new VLAN for these VoIP phones to be connected to. This VLAN is VLAN 4, on a subnet of 192.168.129.0/24. I configured a DHCP server for this VLAN to assign IP addresses from a pool. I connected the VoIP phone to a port that originally was configured for VLAN 2, on the subnet of 192.168.127.0/24. I switched this port's native VLAN to 4, and all VLAN's are allowed on it. The problem I am having is that the VoIP phone cannot connect to the Internet, as it does not get assigned an IP address for VLAN 4 from the 192.168.129.0/24 subnet. The port continues to have an IP address from the 192.168.127.0/24 or VLAN 2 subnet. Any idea why this might be happening? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Hello! We just got a new Access Point for our organization, far from other access points. One of our network's SSID's has VLAN Tagging turned on, and is tagged with VLAN 2. We are trying to get access to this particular SSID through our new access point, but this (screenshot below) shows up on the LAN tab of our new access point's management page. VLAN 2 doesn't seem to be working on the new access point, but on our other access points the status for VLAN 2 is green. I'm just wondering, how would I turn the status of VLAN 2 to green on our new access point, so we can access the SSID we need to access through it? I've looked through a bunch of material online but couldn't seem to find a solution. Thank you in advance for your help, I greatly appreciate it!
