I tried upgrading my HA pair of MX100 firewalls from 14.5, but the only load available was 17.10.2. Had to roll back because it broke eigrp communication between my core switches and ASA firewalls. 16.6.x is not supplied as an option to upgrade to. Why??? ... View more

MX100 firmware upgrade broke eigrp

I have an HA pair of MX100 firewalls acting as VPN hubs for MXs at remote sites. They are in Passthrough/VPN concentrator mode (sitting between my main internet firewalls and core switches), currently running version MX14.53. Last night, an auto-upgrade was initiated that upgraded the pair to 17.10.2. Routing through these firewalls to the internet firewalls was impaired. Log messages on my core switches showed the EIGRP neighbor relationship between the core switches and internet firewalls (ASAs) going down/up every 2 minutes. This impaired routing situation also resulted in loss of communication form the VPN concentrators and all remote MX routers. Rolling back the firmware resolved the issue. I don't have any security policies that should have impaired this communication. Has anyone else ran into this situation? I don't really like the idea of having to stick to an old software version, but I also can't cripple the network either. ... View more

So I know the devices need to connect to the Meraki cloud via 443. They all currently are running version 16.16, and the docs say it should default to 443, but i'm monitoring the traffic at my edge firewall, and the devices are sending out via port 80. I can't figure out where to find/change this setting. ... View more

Right now, they're both running  version  MS 10.35.  12.x is 2 whole major version upgrades, and would surely come with caveats.  Is this upgrade (10.35 straight to 12.x) supported by Meraki? ... View more

Converting MS410 pair from warm spare to stack

Due to my employer's network needs and the limited functionality of the Warm Spare features with Meraki switches, it looks like I need to convert my MS410 switch pair from a Warm Spare setup to a switch stack.  I'm not familiar with these kinds of procedures with Meraki switches, and there seems to be no real documentation on removing Warm Spare functionality from a switch pair.  Has anybody out there ever done something like this?  What should I look for?  Are there any caveats I should pay attention to?  What should I do, buy, (stack cables?) etc in preparation for this procedure?  What kind of downtime would I be looking at?  Obviously I'd have to do this during a maintenance window, so how big of a window (1, 2, ? hrs) should I request from mgmt?  Is this kind of conversion even advisable in a production environment? ...
