Hey all   Customer of ours has just requested an MX with Advanced Security and some additional MR's. When i went to order the MR's i found that there are Enterprise and Advanced Security licenses for the MR's which i wasn't aware of. I know you can't mix the two licenses when it comes to MX's but can you when it comes to MX and MR's together?   Furthermore, whats the difference with the two licenses when it comes to the MR's? Searching online i didn't find anything too helpful.   ... View more

MX Recommended Clients

Hey Community   We have a client thats looking for a Meraki solution and has advised us that there are up to 100 network devices at this one site. The WAN bandwidth will be 100/40.   Judging from the MX data sheet it mentions the MX67 + MX 68 (two basic models we use) recommended clients is 50 whereas the MX84 is 200. Is the Recommended Client a hard limit? How do I judge this recommendation as the MX84 looks to be overkill for what they need based on the max WAN bandwidth available.   MX Data Sheet page 7 + 8 - https://microage.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/meraki-MX-firewall-data-sheet.pdf   ... Thanks Claes_Karlsson, i did see the SFP datasheet but i didn't find it mention whats compatible for the WAN SFP ports in comparison to the LAN SFP ports and the MX datasheet just says 10GbitSFP+ for the WAN ports without specifying the 1Gbit so i was a little thrown off. ... View more

MX250 - WAN Port 1G & 10G?

As per the the MX-Family Data sheet https://meraki.cisco.com/product-collateral/mx-family-datasheet/?file   It mentions that the MX250 has 2x 10GbE SFP+ WAN ports. Can a 1Gbit SFP work on these ports or only 10GbE SFP's? This is important to know as only our DC services have 10Gbit interface handoffs. ... View more

Hey All   Starting to look into how Meraki and connect to cloud services such as AWS. Is there any good guides that someone can send me with the process of setting up? I suspect i need an additional license that will unlock the ability to link the Meraki organisation/network to AWS via a site-to-site VPN. ... View more

Re: Spoke to failover to own WAN

Thanks DanielWeedon23, it 100% makes sense for the use of Default-Route tickbox it's just that the Route-Table still specifies a 2nd Default-Route being its own WAN so i would see that as 'If the first Default-Route is down, move to the next line which is the 2nd Default-Route'. I would think for this scenario when the tickbox is ticked then the Route-Table shouldn't display It's WAN Default-Route if that makes sense?   ... View more

The confusing part is the routing table still displays the Default-Route for its direct WAN uplink (Under the VPN Default-Route) are you saying this is just for the purpose of Meraki Cloud management? ... View more

Spoke to failover to own WAN

Hey all,   On my test bench i have two MX's, one with Fibre WAN (Hub) and the other using 4G (Spoke). I have configured the Spoke with the Default Route tick box ticked to the Hub which all works fine and to reach the internet it goes via the Hub. When i disconnect the WAN cable to the Hub, the Spoke goes down despite in the routing table it has two default gateways with the higher being the Hub and the second to its own WAN. The spoke still works to the Meraki cloud but local subnet can't reach the internet. If i untick the 'Default Route' tickbox It can then reach the internet.   How can i get my Spoke to failover over to its own WAN for when the Default Route to the hub is down? I would had throught via the Routing Table that if the link is down (Red) then it should fail to the next item to which is the default route to its own WAN.     ... View more

The ISP would treat each of the two services independently. They have the option for additional IP's via static or BGP however they wont be able to static route to both my services (even by adjusting AD) and i cant see how to configure BGP on the Meraki for this purpose. ... View more

Reroute a public range from WAN 1 to WAN 2

Hey guys,   Learning Meraki and came by an idea I can't find answers on.   Think of a single site with an MX68 that's using both WAN ports to two different WAN technologies to the same ISP. I have a public additional range routed via static to my WAN 1 connection IP and then use NAT 1:1 to my internal servers. If say WAN 1 was to go down and my MX68 fails over to WAN 2 connection how can i get the additional public range to re-route to the WAN 2 link via the ISP? I understand Meraki can do BGP which is a suitable protocol for re-routing the public subnet however on Meraki that's only available via Passthrough mode not Routed mode. ... View more
