Thanks Brash, that is really useful. It seems older models of AP mounts have this information printed on the card. Also useful to see examples of the conduit boxes under the mount kits on that site.

Hi Everybody! Each AP comes a paper mounting template with A to I (at least on the MR46 version). I need know what each of these means in terms of mounting the AP, but there seems to be no documentation and support have not been helpful. I get it relates to the holes to use on the cradle, but when/where are these used? e.g. A - Standard wall mount, screw in each of the 4 corners. B - Drop ceiling mount. C - ? D - ? E - ? F - ? G - ? H - ? I - ?

When attempting to use a static IP address on a fresh out the box MX, the connection to the gateway will not establish. Only once a firmware update has been done via DHCP will the static configuration work as expected. This is typically on MX100s but have seen it occur on MX84s. And occasionally just on the MX100 the firmware restore button does not work until updated. This has resulted in failed installations and extra time spent shipping devices around to sites that have DHCP or taking them home with me. Sometimes 1 of the 2 (warm spare) MXs works and I can use the first to provide DHCP and update the 2nd. 🙂 Anyone have any clever ideas or workarounds ? I have thought about sending a 4G device along, but have 4 teams and only 1 x 4G router currently. I also heard that the 4G sticks only work after firmware update.

If you know when the IP change will happen you can preempt the change and update the switch beforehand. If you have no control or visibility of when this will happen, as Tat0rt0t say, you will need some sort of backup mechanism like a 4G dongle.

This could be a number of things, but if it is only affecting 2 devices I would look at those first, specifically the radios on those devices and their compatibility with the SSID configuration/authentication mechanisms you have used. Update the drivers if possible.

I would suggest restricting each user between 10 and 25% of the total available bandwidth. Depending on the circuit speeds. Following that keep an eye on users and adjust as necessary.

If you want the IP to stay the same you can allocate a fixed IP address under the DHCP portion of the Security Appliance. If you want a truly static IP you need to make sure that address can reach the internet. A good test would be to give your own laptop the address, plug in via Ethernet and try to ping google (8.8.8.8).

Hi all, does anyone have experience of combining new and (much) older Meraki APs? We are looking to expand or uplift some sites that are using MR18's with MR33 APs. Obviously the newer ones have come a long way, have the third radio for auto adjustment of environmental factors etc. What problems might we encounter?
