I agree that you do lose some flexibility when only having the choice between an omni and a directional indoor AP. Normally you can use the D1 model for both ceiling mount and straight down or wallmount shoot down the aisle. However if you find that the D1 still isn't directional or far reaching enough you could go for the 12 dBi Acceltex antenna with the CW9163E model. they stop tarnsmitting maybe because they're losing power. we had similar issue, 2 ap went dark out of 10.   opened a case with cisco they says it's a bug. they said on rare situations this can happen it's disabling POE. reboot, nothing not even firmware rollback fixed it we ended up having to RMA the units! now eveything works. ...
