Yes, doing that “sort of” works. i can get devices in dashboard, with a DEP profile assigned. But as I said, what happens then is that from the device, it’s as if DEP profile is assigned; the device gets enrolled (although SM on the device says it isn’t) and the DEP profile says it’s still assigned (not pushed). Resetting the device sometimes fixes it. tomorrows plan is to try a block of 10 devices, and give it a few hours between moving the AC profiles and actually configuring the devices. ... View more

So, to be clear, the documentation I'm following is this: https://documentation.meraki.com/SM/Device_Enrollment/Enrolling_and_Supervising_iOS_Devices_using_Apple_Configurator_2.5_or_Later   However, the results are, shall we say, unexpected....   Apple Configurator DOES add the devices to DEP - Its just that once there, you have to manually move them from the "MDM server" (devices added by apple configurator) to the meraki MDM server, This is despite the default DEP profile in Apple Business centre being set to meraki.   Within Meraki Dashboard, there IS a default DEP profile, and this does, after a sync, get assigned to the device.   HOWEVER..... once you pick the Ipad up and start to run through the setup, it becomes very apparent, something is not right.   Wifi profiles have to be configured (despite being part of the AC part), the devices appear in dashboard, but then it's a hit and miss as to whether they show as being pushed or assigned under their DEP settings, and the SM app says the device isn't registered, despite the damn things being manageable from dashboard.   *Maybe* I've just had a really long day, but when you're used to your apple phones just working straight off the bat, something in the AC/Meraki part just feels wrong. ... Ipads are brand new out of box.   Totally agree that having distributors add them to your account is the pain free way (it's how we do our phones) but sadly, management decided to buy the ipads first, then consult us later.... ... View more

So: New SSID added and broadcast, no problems at all. Factory reset and config re-downloaded - same issues.   Yes, Pre-shared key password, no splashpage.    Just noticed something odd whilst testing. Wifi will disconnect when you're in range of the AP. Hitting the guest network to reconnect will prompt a "password is incorrect this network" error. However, cancelling that error will sometimes allow the device to connect.   At this point, I think it's time to get a case opened with Meraki.... ... View more

exactly that;   Iphone connects to guest network. WPA2 password, connects to network.   Wander around the building, it will happily roam from AP to AP, until you reach problem AP.   At this point, you disconnect from the network and the password screen appears.   Entering the correct password won't connect you back to the network. But wander out of range of the AP and back to different AP and you auto reconnect to the Guest network ... View more

Its something that gripes me too. I've had one or two instances of truly excellent support, but sadly, that's been it. I've actually found better support here on the community that within the support portal itself. Direct support *should* be better - Another vendor we use does it, and it's damn near perfect. The people you speak to aren't in tiers, and the person who makes initial contact owns the case through to completion (which is typically a single phone call). Have already tried that - Its failed with both Meraki authentication and AD authentication (authenticates just fine during enrolment, just not for the portal).   Seems a backwards way of doing things, given you've an agent installed on a DC that can read all user information and authenticate the user; all that's left is to match the user to a device, which you can do in the dashboard.     ... I'm another UK based person frustrated by support...   It would seem that support wait until the very last SLA point before responding (so often 24 hours between responses) and even then their response is designed to frustrate, asking questions that have already been covered, or the classic "Raise it as a feature request"   forget SLA's - Move to the Net promoter Score system if you really want to know what your customers are thinking. ...
