Wireless endpoint (default) naming convention-- To what does this refer?

Hello.

Please see below picture.

The long string inside the red circle-- Where does this come from? What does this refer to?

How do I determine which endpoint client this actually is?

Thank you.

It's the client's mDNS hostname and dashboard prefers that over other potentially seen names via NetBIOS or DHCP.

Like Ryan said it's mDNS. The dashboard prefers that over DHCP which makes 0 sense but Meraki won't change it despite a thousand posts here about it.

I'll second @RaphaelL on that.  It is just the most silly decision and hopefully one day Meraki will be given some smelling salts and come round 🤞
