Wireless End-of-Support Date

I have 266 Access Points MR66. The MR66 has an end of support announcement for Jun 9, 2024. My question is: Is the end of support also the end of the Access Point within the Cloud Controller or is it just the end of Meraki support for HW/SW issues or HW replacement?

Does the MR66 continue to work within the Wireless Controller but without Cisco support or software firmware updates or HW replacement?

Now would I recommend continuing to run end of support gear for a long time? No, because it limits your ability to upgrade firmware to address bugs, security vulnerabilities, feature enhancements, etc. And with devices like APs older hardware wasn't as powerful as modern hardware and can also limit your performance, client density, etc.

Yes the AP would continue to connect to dashboard just fine.

Ive seen it too many times vendors pushing a full rip and replace post EoS.

Generally, unsupported devices continue to run - but if you come in one morning and they have all stopped working - you are on your own.

 

You need to get some budget to replace those APs ASAP.
