Using SFP POE Converter with CW9164I

Hello,

I hope you are well.

I am struggling to find a compatible device for for using a fibre cable connection to another part of the building to then use an SFP POE Powered Converter to connect the Fibre Cable to and then have an ethernet cable to connect to the Internal AP.

Any suitable devices that can be used?

Many thanks for your assistance!

Wouldn't it be easier to install a POE switch, connect the fiber to the switch, and then connect the access point to the switch?

This is the route, I would go down, but customer does not want a switch.

You don't need to install an expensive switch. A non-managed PoE switch is much cheaper.

While I would also prefer a small switch in most cases, there definitely exist media converters that provide PoE https://intellinetsolutions.com/products/intellinet-en-gigabit-poe-media-converter-508216 as an example. Not a recommendation or endorsement, but found within about a minute on google.

Assuming, I do get something similar will it work regardless of the VLANs configured?

It's just a media converter. It will not affect vlans or anything like that. Solely converts the signalling from light to electrical over copper and vice versa
