Umbrella Integration Licensing question
Hello Everyone!
I had a question related to licensing for the Umbrella integration part with MR. The document says the "Manual Integration (API integration) will require an Umbrella license.
I just wanted to confirm that if the Automatic Umbrella integration needs an Umbrella license too?
Also, does the automatic integration allow access to the Umbrella dashboard with /without an Umbrella license?
Thank you!

Hi, @Brash , sorry but this is incorrect.
- Manual Umbrella integration requires a Cisco Umbrella package, however, there is no license requirement (except for MR Enterprise license which is required in any case) on the Meraki side.
- Automatic Umbrella does not require a Cisco Umbrella license; however, an MR Advanced license is required on the Meraki side.
Please note the following caveats regarding the Automatic Umbrella:
- Customers do not have access to the Umbrella dashboard. All configuration and [limited] monitoring is done in the Meraki Dashboard.
- Customers cannot create/modify Umbrella DNS policies and must choose from the list of seven pre-defined ones.
- Automatic Umbrella is only supported in the co-termination and Per-device license (PDL) licensing model and is deprecated in the new Subscription licensing model.
We recommend using the Manual Umbrella integration with Meraki Dashboard for the most control and visibility.

Yes, both integrations require an umbrella license to use. You can't access an umbrella dashboard without a license.

Thank you for the quick reply. This helps, the documentation does not mention that.
Thank you again!

Ah, I got mixed up with Umbrella MR automatic integration and SWG tunnel integration.
Thanks for clarifying @AlexanderN
