Spectralink 8440 Handset

We have been having issues with the Spectralink 8440 handsets not being able to connect if we upgrade the firmware on our AP's above 25.9

We have a new site that by default has gone to a newer firmware version 26.6.1 which we cant downgrade. The Spectralink 8440's are on various firmware versions and the issue effects them all.

We now have 4 8440 handsets onsite that we cant use. The devices appear in the Meraki dashboard but go "Offline" before we can apply the local configuration via the web portal.

We have managed to keep all out other sites on 25.9 but we are being pressured to upgrade the firmware as the phones are critical to the operation of the centres they are in.

The issue only appeared with firmware higher than 25.9.

Any chance of upgrading the firmware on your 8440's?

What model APs do you have?  Perhaps its to do with the newer WiFi 6 support.

Yes that´s possible, we had issues with some notebooks with an specific Intel wireless chip to connect at WiFi 6 accesspoints. We have an workaround for this and an test firmware from Meraki on some of our WiFi6 accesspoints to prevent issues.

@Lyndsay if the AP models you have at the new site support 25.9 then you can ask support to install that firmware for you.
