RE : Meraki Access Points Firmware Upgrade
Hi all,
I have the following queries before performing the Firmware Upgrade:
1. I have planned to upgrade the Firmware of Meraki Access Points from MR 30.6 to MR 31.1.5.1 on March 6th, 2025. I have already received approval via email from our internal team and officials for this activity.
2. However, I noticed that the latest firmware version, MR 31.1.6, was released on March 5th, 2025. When I checked the firmware upgrade page, the only available option in the target firmware version column is MR 31.1.6 (latest stable).
3. Is there any way to specifically upgrade to MR 31.1.5.1?
4. Additionally, I have not scheduled the Firmware Upgrade date and time yet, as I planned to upgrade manually. If I schedule the upgrade earlier, which firmware version will be chosen? Will it select MR 31.1.5.1 or MR 31.1.6?
Thanks & Regards,
Azarudeen

The old stable release was replaced by 31.1.6. If you really only want to go to 31.1.5.1, Support can help you with that. For your situation, I would just update a less important network to 31.1.6 and see how this firmware version behaves. In the next maintenance window you can upgrade the rest.

Hi @KarstenI,
Thanks for your valuable input.
I have checked with the Meraki Support Engineer, and they will carry out the activity to upgrade the firmware version of the MR to 31.1.5.1.
We need to call the Support Engineer during the upgrade.
Thanks & Regards,

You should re-consider this.
31.1.5.1. was pulled for a reason. A bad bug was probably found. You are asking Meraki to forcibly apply that firmware update against their recommendations. Meraki is recommending you use 31.1.6.

Totally agree with @PhilipDAth here. Meraki firmware is updated somewhat more frequently than some legacy vendors.
If you need really need approval for specific versions, you should schedule the upgrade when you make the request, as you can do this for several weeks in the future. If it isn't approved the you can cancel or delay it.

Why not just upgrade to 31.1.6 instead? It’s marked as stable anyway.
