LLDP and MR56 APs

Hi all,

We recently turned on LLDP on our switch network and immediately four MR56 access points went offline.  Turning off LLDP again and shutting down and turning on the switchports again made no difference.  The line protocol shows as completely down with 0 packets in and out.  There is 0 inline power consumption for the switchports but over 1000w still available.

The access points are MR56 running MR 30.7.1 and connected to Cisco Catalyst 9300 switches (non-meraki managed).  Has anyone ever had anything like this happen or offer advice as to what might have gone wrong?

This has been reported before and appears to be a bug. I think it would be a good idea to contact Meraki support.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

Thanks for the quick reply, do you have any more details whilst we go through support?

One question, what if you use CDP on the ports where the APs are connected, is the result the same?

Yes, same problem still exists using CDP.

LLDP can do power negotiation.  Double check the ports to see if they have any PoE configuration overrides (should be fine with no PoE configuration).

no PoE configuration on the ports explicitly.
