Enable AP name advertising

There was this item in the MR 25.12 changelog:

  • Removed device-name from CCX extensions as default but can be enabled.

I want the device-name advertised, but I can't figure out where to enable it in the dashboard.  Any ideas?

You would need to open a case with support to have it turned back on.

Thanks Philip.  Do you know if the plan is to eventually add support to configure this into the dashboard?

Considering that CCX is pretty much dead - I would not expect so.

The latest version, CCXv5, came out in 2007 - more than 10 years ago.  Before that a new version was coming out every year or two.

Thanks, but all I'm really interested in is the individual AP advertising its name in the beacon.  Meraki chose to use the CCX extensions to do this.  Other products use the Vendor Specific information element to do it.  I don't really care, as long as it's advertised.

Having the AP name in the beacon makes it easier for site survey and other monitoring tools to report the name rather than just a MAC address.
