Distance between two MR76 Omni for Mesh

I am having trouble finding maximum distance documentation when installing two MR76 with Omni antennas on a pole.  I see documentation saying they need to be at the same elevation, but I don't see a reference as to the maximum distance they should be installed.  I am extending the wired network with the Repeater AP and the Dashboard shows the Mesh Speed to be 10.9 Mbps. I was expecting a higher speed, but concerned this may be due to the distance of 145m.

If you are using omnidirectional antennas, I'm quite surprised you got that far.  I'm guessing it is a perfect clear line of sight?

If you have an endpoint device at that distance, what do you get?

It is a big open area with a clear line of sight.  Like a large stadium parking lot.  The Repeater end has an 8 port switch with 5 surveillance cameras.  So all the video traffic goes over the Mesh to the Gateway. Not sure I know how to tell what I get from the endpoint.

If you go to the second MR and try to connect a laptop to the WiFi from the first MR, does it even see it?

It doesn't really matter, but you could get a better result with a directional antenna on each AP.  Something like the MA-ANT-25

That is a good idea. I could test connecting a laptop to the Gateway AP while standing at the Repeater AP. I would need to use a SSID the repeater does not have.

Can the Repeater AP use a Directional and the Gateway AP use Omnidirectional?

Thanks for chiming in on this topic.  Was not finding any documentation about practical distances between APs for Meshing.

The APs could use different antennas, but you'd not get the full benefit with only one changed, it would be worth a test though.

From the install guide, you *could* mix antennas on each AP, one omnidirectional pair and one directional antenna.  Though it isn't recommended for optimal performance, it would definitely be worth testing:

2x N-Type antenna ports are located at the top of the MR76 and 2x are located at the bottom of the MR76. The 4 antenna ports are connected to 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz client serving radios respectively. Please see the markings on the AP to verify 2.4GHz and 5GHz ports. In order to ensure the highest performance, ensure antennas connected to the 4 ports have overlapping coverage areas.
