Defective MR33

Defective MR33

I have a defective Cisco Meraki MR33. It powers up normally, connects up to Meraki Setup via Wi-Fi ,with access to Local Status Page and pinging 10.128.128.128 OK. After a minute the LED Status goes blank as if there is NO power but can still access MR33? Is there any way to rectify issue?

@TonyC1969  Hi Tony, have you tried factory resetting it ?  Push a paper clip into the reset hole and hold for at least 5 seconds

Tried Factory Resetting a few times, does the usual Flashing Orange LED sequence but after a minute or so the LED status just goes blank? All other functionality OK.

@TonyC1969  So the AP is functioning perfectly, connecting ot the cloud, sevicing clients etc except the LED is not lit ?

 

I have very dim lit MR32's in normal operation (the led's look like they are off unless looking up close), this was as a result of a firmware upgrade a couple of years ago.  There's a thread on here somewhere, I think some may of got them RMA'd but not heard of this issue affecting the MR33.  Have just checked a MR33, LED is lit OK

If it is just the LED that isn't very bright, I would chalk that up to cosmetic and ignore it. Plus if we're being honest here, the LED is almost not beneficial because its positioned on the side of the AP where its difficult to see, instead of how Cisco access points have them, which is on the bottom (facing the floor) so that anyone can easily see it from any height. One of my complaints to the designers 😃

I've had quite a few APs where the light has been dim. Other devices too - MXes in the 64+ line are notorious for dim happy white light at my office.

 

What's it look like in a dark room? If it's functioning normally, talking to the cloud, letting you configure it - I'd shrug off the light. I've never referred to the lights once an AP was installed.

You can RMA it if needed, I had an MR32 replaced with a dim LED as we have remote sites and the light is a useful diagnostic for non tech savvy users.

Have you tried using the Blink LED tool in the dashboard?

Have you by chance enabled "Dark" mode which turns off the LED?
