how do i remove a default SSID?

All default SSIDs are always there. Just disable all that you don't need.

Does that remove it's accessibility to other APs?

Yes, just disable any that you don't want and they will be completely inactive and not seen.

A disabled SSID is disabled on all APs. An enabled SSID can be controlled on which APs you want to use the SSID.
