Creston Airmedia devices

Hi All,

We have a Corporate SSID hardcoded on 5Ghz only using Meraki MR56 APs, we also have a large number of meeting room using Creston Airmedia devices for screen sharing which we have hard coded to 2.4Ghz, the Airmedia are transmitting a strong signal so all the rooms are visible across the building. They are also showing as top neighbours in the MyMerkai dashboard. Is this likely to be causing interference issues even though the the APs and Airmedias are on different bands? We see a lot of high channel utilization on 2.4Ghz.

They will cause interference only in the 2.4GHz band.

By the way it is very common to have a high use at 2.4GHz for various reasons.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

High utilization on 2.4ghz makes sense if you've got lots of airmedia devices transmitting on high. There will be overlap of bands in that spectrum and thus interference will be expected.

It shouldn't interfere with the corp SSID on 5ghz though.
