Cellular Bonding/Aggregation?

Hi guys,

 

I was just reviewing the MG41 and noticed the following line item on the product page:

 

  • Supports up to 5 simultaneous carrier aggregation (5CA)


Does this mean that that I can 'combine' signals from say Verizon and AT&T and double my throughput? Or that I can combine only the same providers signals into one?

 

Like if I have (5) Verizon SIM cards, and each one only get 10Mbps, then I would have 50Mbps total etc.

 

Or am I reading/understanding this wrong?

I don't know the answer.

 

It has slots for two SIM cards ... so I'm not sure how it could combine 5.  I've never used two SIMs at the same time, but I had the impression it used SIM1 unless it fails and then it uses SIM2.

I think at the pvt they told only 1 is active used.  Also read this:

No - @PhilipDAth describes the capabilities accurately;  connectivity via one SIM or the other, not both.   I believe 5CA is more like the cellular version of using multiple 20 MHz-wide channels in WiFI (40 MHZ, 80 MHz etc.) to achieve higher throughput.   https://www.4gmobiletech.com/carrier-aggregation
