swapping ms 320 to Catalyst 9300

We are in the process of swapping old ms 320 with new catalyst. We found out that the new Catalyst need to have a 10 GB gic. We still have two Meraki layer 2 switches that need to uplink to the new switch. Do we need to replace the 1 gig Gbic with a 10?

I was told we only needed to replace the gbics at the new switch and the old gbics would up link. Anyone has tried it ?

The SFP modules at each end must match.

Example, if your Meraki only allows 1Gig SFP modules then to connect to your C9300 series you would need it to also be 1Gig SFP module.

If you want to use the C9300 at 10Gig - both ends (each SFP modules needs to be 10Gig SFP+).

It's as easy as this - 1Gig at each end or 10Gig at each end, if that makes sense.

It depends, in some cases it's not necessary. Take a look at this article.

In your case, if you are certain that it is Auto-Negotiation, then you won't need to replace it.
