port Profiles & templates

Hey,

I'm managed a network of about 140 different sites and would we are busy segmenting this, so Port profiles look like a very good solutions. I already created different organization wide port profiles and used this this in our default template and that works great and easy.

Now the big catch, i also need a Port profile with and access policy.

I can't create an organization wide port with because it's not supported.

so I've created the port profile inside of the template but when i try to assign it to a port I'm getting the error :

"Port profile must belong to the same organization or switch group as the port it is assigned to"
which doesn't make sense because it's already part of the organization.

If i go to the Port profiles of the network and want to create the port on the network level I'm getting the error :
"A port profile may not be created from a template child network." Which makes sense but still I'm stuck in between to create the port profiles

Considering that everything seems to be ok I would open a case with Meraki.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

Are you talking about the SmartPorts feature? https://documentation.meraki.com/MS/Port_and_VLAN_Configuration/SmartPorts

If so it's not supported with Templates.

No, i'm talking about Port Profiles, but i see they are merging the Port Profiles together with the smartPorts.
