Used Meraki Switch License and Warranty

I am thinking of purchasing some second hand legitimately owned switches (which have been unclaimed) but wonder what the situation is with ongoing warranty/support if I simply purchase the associated licensing.

Does the license cover the physical support/failure of switches? My existing is estate is currently 100% purchased by our business, from new so don't want to be left in a position where a physical problem leaves us in the cold.

Thanks in advance!

It's a good idea to confirm that your model is not at End of Support. Take a look at these links.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

Cisco Meraki Devices purchased Second Hand

Due to the cloud-managed nature of the product, it is strongly recommended that Cisco Meraki devices are purchased directly from Cisco Meraki or an authorized vendor. However, once purchased, ownership of devices can be transferred between third parties at any time, with certain provisions and restrictions:

  • Devices are first removed from the previous owner's dashboard account.
  • Warranties are non-transferable.
  • Cloud Controller licenses are non-transferable.

Thanks a lot folks. I did read the article

about transferring ownership of devices between organisations but wasn’t sure on the warranty piece and Meraki’s licensing model.

I’m thinking that having a spare or two might be the order of the day, if I decide to progress!
