The stacking status shows 'up/down'. "Model MS410-32" - "version 17.2.1"

I have a issue with stacking Cisco Meraki MS410-32 switches. These switches have two dedicated stacking ports: Stack Port 1 and Stack Port 2.

When both stack ports are used on the MS410-32 switches, the stack status keeps flapping — showing 'UP/Down' in the logs continuously. If I use only one port for stacking, it works normally.

Previously, I already upgraded the firmware to the latest recommended version and replaced the stack cable with a new one, but the issue still persists.

Could you please suggest how to solve this issue?

Kind of a big deal

If you are using an oem cable from Cisco then about the only thing I can think to do would be talk to support. The stack port could be bad on one of the units and need rma.

if you are using a third party cable you can ask support but they may require you to get the official cable before doing anything further.

Thanks for your suggestion. In this case, I’ve already performed an RMA for the cable, but the issue still occurs.

This firmware version has some bugs already confirmed, I believe that for now the best thing to do is to do a rollback and wait for Meraki to fix the bugs.

Oh, are there really bugs in version 17.2.1?

Probably not the issue but worth checking, have you cabled the stack ports correctly? Stack port 1 on switch 1 connecting to stack port 2 on switch 2 (and vice versa)

It really sounds like a wrong cable management.

I would also check the connections, they should be similar to this image:

Hi @Thiandanai ,

As @Brash mentioned. Double check the correct Stack Cable configuration. Also note the correct orientation of the connector. i.e. Upside down.

"Correct orientation - The black tab on the cable heads should face up"

@r2kat @IvanJukic

Thank you all, guys.  I will emphasize to my team again to check the stack cable connections.
