Stack Port - 54 up and like a yoyo

Hi folks,

I have a never ending stream of the below messages, the switches in question are stacked using the stack wise cables and connected in the way described in Cisco's documentation, the switch in question the MS225-48FP and is the middle switch in a stack of 3, its port 53 is up and happy and beyond flooding logs, it's a happy performant switch.

My question is, is this normal operation on a switch stack or should I be concerned.

Kind of a big deal

Not normal.

Are you running recent firmware ? I would try to re-seat the cable in a maintenance window and open a support case

I don't think this is normal.  Here are  a few things I would try:

1) Check your configuration, for this port are you setting the speed and duplex mode in auto or manual mode? You could try manually configuring these settings rather than using auto.

2) Temporarily use a different port and see if that port starts having the same behavior.

3) Replace the cable you are using.

I'll have to purchase some more stack-wise cables, I can't configure any speed or duplex settings on these ports as far as know.

config is stack port 1 to port 2 on the next member and loops around from the bottom stack member to the top switch.

Firmware wise they're on 16.9 I'll see if I can upgrade them late tonight to 17 build. maybe it's a resolved problem in that.
