RSTP ok?

Goodday Everyone,

I have some MAC Address flapping and now i see something weird.
Maybe its correct but i want to clarify that
My GS-SW-00 says its RSTP ROOT switch but the GS-SW-01 is connected to the internet.
The topology you seeing below is the correct topology.

Is something wrong?switch.png

Kind of a big deal

So in this case, configure ROOT on the switch closest to your MX, which I believe is the L3 of the network.

Did you configure the STP priority manually or did you leave it as the default in the switches?

Remember that Root will always be the Switch with the lowest configured priority value, we generally configure root with priority 0.

Thanks for the quick reply
it is now on auto. And the GS-SW-01 where the internet link is should be my root switch right

Then you must manually set the priority to 0. Never use the default in the Root of the topology.

The bridge ID is a concatenation of the priority and the MAC address of the switch.  So as far STP it is concerned, this is a new root bridge.

The root must be the L3 switch on your network, i.e. your core switch.
