Please see the below where starting from 15.21.1 we now have MS firmware for traditional Meraki and CS firmware for Catalyst based Meraki managed switches.
Independent Firmware Releases for Meraki and Catalyst-based switches - Cisco Meraki
There is already CS15.21.1 for MS390 and C9300 as a public preview, although for MS390s it is the same as MS15.21.1 as of this release.
I find it odd that this hasn't gotten more attention.
@rhbirkelund, I agree. I did subsequently find this in the features section:
Accelerate value delivery with the new switching firmware releases strategy - The Meraki Community
It's just.. PVT was last week, and the week or so before, for the US. And albeit, I missed the last half of PVT (afternoon on day 2 and all of day 3), to my knowledge this was not mentioned at all. I'd expect this change being radical enough to at least get mentioned during PVT.
Or perhaps it was, while I was out?
But I guess they've finally given up on getting MS390 to work on a pure MS firmware, and so resorting back to at C9300 firmware with Meraki persona. 😉
I can't remember the session but I 100% saw this discussed.
And so I stand corrected. 🙂
So this means we will soon be able to manage C9200 also? 🤞
I'm also hoping for C9200 series support so more affordable switches can be an option.
I also have a wishlist for expanded features that can make use of the larger TCAM space and more advanced chips the Catalyst switches have 😉
Yeah it is really disappointing. They announced C9300 management a year ago with more to come but still no other switches have been added. The MS series is annoyingly fragmented and ridiculously priced. I remember when Meraki switches were affordable.
