MS225 SFP+ with OM2 fiber
Hi all,
we are planning to install 3 MS225 with 10G links between them.
The fiber is OM2 type, i've seen somewhere that using SFP-10GB-LRM is allowed only with a Mode Conditioning Patch Cord, can someone confirm this statement?
Thank you,
bye
Michele

The first thing to note is OM2 is multi-mode fibre. The next thing to note is OM2 is quite old now, and only has a range of 82m when used with 10Gbe.
You will want to use MA-SFP-10GB-SR (which supports multimode).
If you can, try and use OM4 (which has a range of up to 400m).

You can use an LRM transceiver with OM2 fiber as long as you have mode conditioning patch cables. However you'd be better off using regular SR transceivers which don't require special patch cables. Note the distance limitation on OM2 fiber at 10Gb as @PhilipDAth brought up.
You'll want to plan on replacing the OM2 fiber with OM3 or OM4 soon.
