Long Distance Stack

Long Distance Stack

Hi everyone,

on a new site, we have two network rooms with internet access. In both rooms we would like to have MX Appliances and MS410 core switches to connect the switches of the other floors.

Is it possible to build a stack with 10Gbit interfaces between the MS410? Meraki stacking cables are not long enough to connect the switches.

We would like to build link aggregations to connect our access switches instead of having spanning tree in our network.

Are there any other solutions?

Best

Fabian

Interesting topic, the MS410 doesn't have flexible stacking (you can "convert" a normal port to a stacking port on the MS420 and 425).

But in the end of the day, Meraki dedicated stacking ports (and cables) are simply QSFP's, so I'm wondering if you could buy 4 QSFP modules, attach them to the switches and use fibre to connect them.

We do this on MS425 but there we don't have dedicated stacking ports, we use the QSFP ports and Flexible stacking to use them as stacking ports and this works without any issues (the same scenario, 2 server rooms, single mod due to the distance we have).

We will simply chose two MS425 and connect them. We don't need 10gbit in our scenario, but if we only get this feature with the 425 series, we'll get them.

Thank you!
