10G Ethernet port switch for SAN

Hello friends,

I’m looking for a couple of 48-port switches with 10G Ethernet to replace our old Nexus 9K switches currently used for SAN connections between our Hyper-V and VMware hosts and the storage area network. I’d like to configure VSS or some form of high availability (such as stacking) to ensure redundancy between the two switches.

Additionally, I need to configure VLANs on these switches without interfering with the rest of the network — the traffic should remain isolated and contained within the two switches.

Does Meraki have such switches to be used and configured independently with specific VLANs isolated on them?

I recommend the Meraki MS250-48FP switches due to their 48x 1G ports + 4x 10G SFP+ uplinks, physical stacking support (80 Gbps), Layer 3 capabilities, and redundant power supply support.

But remember to analyze all your 9K configurations, as all features are supported by Meraki. However, there are still some limitations when it comes to Meraki.

For example, no native SAN protocol support.

Thanks for recommendation.

I will need all 48 ports to be Ethernet 10G like Nexus one. Not sure if Meraki has anything similar to that.

Meraki does not currently offer a switch with 48 full 10G Ethernet access ports. The closest match would be the MS355-48X2 with 24 x 1G Ethernet PoE++ and 24 x 10G Ethernet PoE++.

MS250 and MS355 are End of Sale as of August. As @cmr mentions, consider the Catalyst 9K platform.

Look at the C9350 and C9300 switches.  You can run them in Meraki mode and there are ones with more 10Gb.  If you need SFP+/28 use the C9500s
