Planning for MV Cameras

Hi,

I am planning to install multiple CCTV cameras using MV however, I have some concerns,

1. I don't have a CAD tool that can determine how many and where is the best location for the MV to mount.

2. What is the best height to mount the MV cameras?

Can anyone recommend if Meraki has this kind of tool and best practices on how high it should be mounted.

Thanks

Hi @FXE

Not used this personally but worth a try?

I'm not an employee of Cisco/Meraki. My posts are based on Meraki best practice and what has worked for me in the field.

Hi @DarrenOC , yeah, I saw it too but my camera is not in the list.

IPVM calculator is the best tool I've used. But, you can only place 2 cameras on the map for free. Anything more and it's a cost that is high if you only plan to use it once.

Take a look at this.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

Not the best option - but you could get a trial of some different MV cameras:
https://meraki.cisco.com/form/trial/

Get a long Ethernet cord and try manually placing them in a few places to get a feeling for their capabilities (most video quality at different ranges and their coverage).

Once you have that experience, you'll be able to work out quantities and placements in advance.
