NTP requests being sent to 192.168.1.100 from all new cameras; this is not configured behavior

Hello,

We are deploying new Meraki cameras and have them fully operational.  We have noticed port 123 traffic being sent to 192.168.1.100 in our firewall from all of the new cameras.  This is not a NTP server and is not configured in the DHCP scope.  The  only reason we know about these requests is because this site hangs off of an SD-WAN firewalled configuration from the main site, and 192.168.1.0/24 only exists at the main site.

Our firewall is dropping the requests, but we would prefer that the traffic not exist in the first place.  Is anybody aware of this issue?  I haven't found anything in my searching thus far.

Hi ,

Can you perform a packet capture and try to see if you see a DNS query that would match this IP ?

If you can't , I would suggest opening a ticket.

Hey there,

+1 to Raphael

Meraki devices use Meraki/public NTP servers, this is not configurable. If you can confirm this traffic is indeed being sent by the MVs to your private server then I would suggest opening a ticket with support.
