how to block facebook-chat and allow facebook

Hi,

Is there a way today to just block facebook-chat application but allow facebook for surfing and viewing posts. I think this requires ssl decryption but I am not sure.

Have you tried blocking access to the URL messenger.com ?

Found this list of URL's you can try blocking, I have not tried this to see if it is effective so please take it with a grain of salt.
