WAN Switch
Folks ,we are building a new network and it involves two MS130 8 port WAN break switches , I would like to know if there is any advantage in keeping those switches into a completely different network
Thank you

Yes, it would give you better/more consistant reporting.

What happens is that all lan side network traffic passes through several devices and have some correlation so its not displayed several times in your dashboard.
But for example: when you are using switches on lan and wan side in the same dashboard network you will see a LANclient-to-wan traffic flow as a private IP but also as wan IP(nat).

But we have separate dashboard network for WAN and LAN (LAN includes the WAN switches as well) does that makes any difference in reporting ?

Hi @piasterloo,
I +1 @ww here, having these switches in a separate network will help not to break reporting 😀

Traffic flows through internal switching and gets reported, but also flows through the wan side. Both from different MAC addresses, so you will get double reporting on single flow of traffic. Once from the client itself and once from the MX/router wan side.
The reporting on users/devices in your network will also no longer be correct, as the router/MX will be the top one always
