VPN Clients are identified via their MAC address and a @meraki.com prefix

Hey folks

I don't know if this situation is specific to my own organization, please bear with me ...

When looking at the list of connected devices via the Meraki Client VPN (Network-Wide -> Clients -> clientType:client-vpn) the only info I can use to identify clients is their MAC address and a sm_1234567809@meraki.com domain address. That's the info showing up under the 'Description' and 'User' collumn respectivelly. Those clients get their VPN configuration via the SM.

At the opposite, for manually configured clients added in 'User management' (Security & SD-WAN -> Client VPN) what's listed under the 'User' collumn is the 'Email (Username)' info from 'User management'. That is fine.

So is there a way to get the 'Device Name' to show up or anything else that would make the process of identifying the clients easier?

Unfortunately, no.

Cisco AnyConnect does show the username correctly, and is a *much* better VPN client, but it does cost extra (not that much IMHO).
