Meraki MX95/105 SFP+ types seeking advice

Hi there,

We have recently replaced some of our MX84s with MX95s and have an MX105 yet to be installed when the site is ready. All of these sites will upgrade their WAN links to 1Gbps and will probably be presented on multi-mode fibre. My question is this, the MX95 and 105 support 10GbE SFP+ ports for WAN, I saw in an article somewhere they will downshift speed, but the question is, could we use 1Gbps SFP+ modules in the MXs or should we use 10GbE SFP+ modules and see if they sync at 1Gbps ?

Hoping someone may have an answer!

Kind of a big deal

Check this datasheet you will have all info. The only thing is If you are using one kind of SFP+ on one side, it should be same on the other side, else it will not work

Thanks for that link, I hadn't found that one. It implies that a 1GB SFP+ module should work.

You need to use 1Gb/s SFPs in the SFP+ slots.

10Gbe fibre SFP+s wont drop down in speed.
