Meraki MX in HA with ISP submet 255.255.255.252

Hi
The ISP gives me a 1 real Wan ip with mask 255.255.255.252, how do I configure the Wan interfaces in the 2 MX that I have in high availability? I configure main and backup interface with the same IP Wan IP, Is this possible or do I need more Wan ips from the ISP?

Thanks

Best would be to do a /29 and give each MX a WAN IP. And since you have extra IP space in the /29 you might as well configure HA Virtual IP as well to reduce the impact when you fail over 🙂

The only way is for your ISP to provide you with a larger block of IPs or you will have to use a private IP and do a NAT.

Can your ISP's router provide a NAT and private IP?

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

You ask the ISP to swap to a /29 so that each MX can have it's own dedicated WAN IP 😊
