Meraki MX 19.1.7.1 Firmware Upgrade Bugs?

My usual post on here. I have run into cases where production-worthy MX firmware upgrades introduced impactful bugs that forced rollback. The past year or two involved 1:1 NAT hosts having sporadic connectivity issues, MX network utilization being erroneously exaggerated (causing needless concern about security breaches), etc. All due to MX firmware updates that somehow made it out of Cisco internal UAT.

So when it comes to MX 19.1.7.1, has anyone applied this in production to their equipment and run into issues? Just checking before I proceed!

...and I did see this post --> https://community.meraki.com/t5/Security-SD-WAN/New-MX-19-1-7-1-other-release-fixes-issue-with-many-.... Just wondering about customer end-users and their real world experiences since this post was made. 🙂

It's been pushed by Meraki to most (if not all) of customers who had been on 19.1.7 and I haven't seen any issues.

Our MX'es are coming from MX 18.211.5. I'll keep an eye out for other replies on here just to play it safe. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi ,

MX network utilization being erroneously exaggerated (causing needless concern about security breaches)

You mean the device utilization itself ?  If so , everysingle update since MX18.211 I have seen a significant bump in device utilization ranging from 1-15%

No I mean network utilization. Our headquarters typically displays 400 GB of usage over a week's time. It was reporting 3-4 TB in the organization overview page on the Meraki cloud dashboard. And for certain periods this was spiking and firing off alert notifications. But drilling into the MX specifics this was all bogus. As confirmed by a Meraki support tech working the case I opened. It was a known issue with a previous firmware upgrade.

Haven't experienced that one. I will keep an eye on that one.  Currently running 500 MX on that version.

Here were the specifics, in terms of what I was describing. From the Meraki ticket.

"I believe you are running into a known issue on the MX 18.211.2 firmware where Client Usage Data does not match what is seen in the application table. With that said the Application Table is correct and the Usage Download is incorrect."

I've been using 19.7.1 without issue (not 19.1.7.1).
