Meraki Co-Termination license process

Dear Expert and Everyone,

I would like to seek clarification regarding how co-termination licensing works. We are currently operating under a co-termination license. The license key was claimed on November 13, but the official start date is listed as December 1.

Could you please explain how the license start date is determined? Specifically, does it begin on the date the license key is claimed, or on the purchase order start date?

Thank you for your guidance.

Thanks,

Joy

For Meraki licenses, they are active from the date at which they are processed.

If you received an email with the license, then it is already active from that date.

When does a license start to burn (start ticking)?

Licenses in the Co-Termination model start consuming time from the date it was processed, not the date they are added to an organization. Waiting to activate a license in a Co-Term dashboard does not delay its activation date. There is no time benefit gained from delaying an activation.

I would like to add-on:

on the purchase order license start date 1st Dec 2025 - 30st November 2026

We saw the history that we claim the license key on 14 November 2024. As i can see, the expire license is 13 November 2025.

What we are questioning here is that we purchase order of co-termination license start start with above information. but why license show is expired on November 13rd.

Thank you for your response.

Specifically for co-termination, when you order a license, the license begins being consumed on the date it ships (meaning the day you receive the email notification containing the license key).

For example, if you order five access points with five years of licensing, the order may be placed on November 1, 2025, but the hardware and licenses might not ship until November 5, 2025. Once the licenses ship and you receive your email notification with the license key, your licensing term begins. The claim date simply indicates when the license was claimed.

Thank you @Maallan for your well explanation. I suspect that the order date maybe be on November 14 and  it start begin since that day onward.

Hi @Brash ,

Licenses in the Co-Termination model start consuming time from the date it was processed = meaning the date of activation date start

not the date they are added to an organization = claim license date.

Is this correct?

Thank you

Correct.
It starts being consumed from the day you receive the license key via email, not the day you claim the license into the dashboard.
