MX75 SD-WAN DHCP relay setup with VLANS

I am setting up an MX75 with SD-WAN with 3 VLANS

  • 1 (192.168.1.0/24)
  • 10 (192.168.10.0/24)
  • 100 (192.168.100.0/24)

VLAN 100 needs to relay DHCP requests to 192.168.100.10. When I set VLAN 100 to relay DHCP to 192.168.100.10 this fails when you go to save.

This is the error:

There were errors in saving this configuration:

  • The DHCP relay IP address 192.168.100.10 cannot be in the subnet that is being relayed.

I have set many L2-L3 devices to relay requests to another DHCP Server in the same subnet.

How can I setup VLAN 100 to send DHCP requests to 192.168.100.10 so I can then set the switchports to access VLAN 100 so those devices can send a request then receive a DHCP address from 192.168.100.9?

Just disable DHCP on VLAN 100 on the MX. Clients will broadcast their DHCP request on VLAN 100 and your server at .10 will receive it and reply.
